Notes on making a difference

1.Annie beasant- She was an activist for women s right who joined the independent movement. First woman to be accepted to the university of London.

2.Leon Sullivan- He was a civil rights leader. He was from Charleston West Virginia.

3. Ansel Adams- He was born an only child to an older couple. He was dyslexic and hyperactive. At the age of 12 he began to play the piano.

4.Susan B. Anthony- She fought to end slavery. She didn't stop fighting till she got what she wanted. She was part of the oatmeal Quaker family.

5.Indira Gandhi- Was the third prime minister of India. She brought out the green revolution.She was arrested for three months.

6.Rachel Carson- She was a marine biologist. She uprised at the use of synthetic organic chemicals.She died of breast cancer is 1964.

7.Caesar Chavez- He was a civil rights activist. In 1952 founded community service association.

8.Roger Baldwin- He founded american liberty civil union. He earned bachelors degree and masters degree at Harvard.

9.Eva Peron-  She married a guy name wan Peron in 1945. He became president and she was first lady at 20 years old. She was 1 of four kids.

10. Aung San suu kyi- She was born in the country berma. Her father created the berma military in 1947. She was two when her father died.

11. Jane Adams- She won world wide recognition as a pioneer social worker in america. She produced eleven books and many articles. Founder of Chicago federation of settlements.

12.John Muir- He was an author and inventor. He immigrated to america in Wisconsin. He fell in love with wilderness because he spent his free time in the woods.

13.Deganawida- His name means two river currents flowing together. He put an end to cannibalism in tribes. He had a speech impediment.

14. W.E.B Debois- He was a sociologist historian author and editor. Leader of the Niagara movement

15.  Jacques Cousteau-  As a child he learned to swim at the age of 4. In 1933 he was involved in a bad car accident.

16. Ida B. Wells- Her parents were enslaved. At the age of 16 she lost her parents and little brother.
